Scholarships

The Bonanza Casino is committed to serving our community and is proud to support the students and educators of North Valleys High School. A “Partners in Education” sponsor since the school opened its doors in 2001, we take pride in teaming up with NVHS to provide scholarship opportunities, donations, educational seminars, internships, job mentor/shadowing and other work training programs.

Each school year the Bonanza Casino awards scholarships to students from North Valleys High School and Bonanza Casino Team Members to help ease the burden of the cost of higher education.

North Valleys High School students in turn give back to the casino by having their choir perform at several of the casino’s employee functions, helping to decorate the casino for the holidays and by doing a “spring cleaning” of the property.

“The relationship between the school and the casino is more than we could have dreamed of. It really is an example of what can happen, what should happen when you invest time and effort in building a relationship with the community.” says Ryan Sheltra, General Manager of the Bonanza Casino.

For 2024, three $1,500 scholarships will go to North Valleys High School students, Kamille De La Rosa, Maximiliano Marquez, Shaloni Walker, and the $1,500 Bonanza Casino Team Member scholarship will go to Tristan Davis, a high school senior at Academy of Career Education (ACE) High School. Tristan works in Bonanza Casino’s Cactus Creek Prime Steakhouse as a Restaurant Host. Both Kamille and Tristan were Valedictorians at their respective schools.

North Valleys High School seniors Kamille De La Rosa and Maximiliano Marquez will be attending the University of Nevada, Reno, while North Valley High School senior Shaloni Walker will be attending Dillard University. Tristan Davis, a senior at the Academy of Career Education (ACE) High School, will be attending both Truckee Meadows Community College and the University of Nevada, Reno. Congratulations to this year’s recipients and we wish them nothing but the best in their future endeavors.
